When you observe a BDSM scene, consider who is doing the giving at each stage of the session. Is the top the one who is giving a service to the bottom?… or is it the bottom who is providing the pleasure for the top ? You could say “the slave just has to rock up… and the Master does all the work” … or inversely you could say “the slave is providing all the entertainment and the Master gets all the power”… you can’t really tell who is “giving” until you know why each person is motivated in their role.
